The word “love” appears hundreds of times in the Bible. There are different kinds of love, but the greatest is sacrificial love.
Love is more than kindness. Anyone can be kind, but to truly show love you have to know the one who is love. The Bible says that God is love.
If He is the head of your life then love will be the rock on which your life is built. When you allow Him to take over every part of your life, love can’t help but to spill out onto everything and everyone.
God sacrificially gave His only Son to die for you and for me because of His great love for us. Jesus willingly and sacrifically gave up His life so that we could spend eternity in heaven.
There isn’t any greater love than one who would lay down their own life for others. This is what Jesus did. His life was a ransom so that you wouldn’t have to live as a slave to your sin.
Your freedom has been paid by the blood of Christ and the love of God. Without spending time getting to know Jesus through God’s Word, prayer, and fellowship with other believers, you won’t be able to understand how much God loves you.
Even then we can not fully grasp the depth of His love, but we can sure try. Ask God to help you thirst and hunger for more of Him—for He is the well that doesn’t run dry and the bread of life.
We love others because He loved us first. Some are hard to love. Regardless, God calls above all for us to love Him and also love others—no exceptions.
This love is all about having concern for others and for their good and well-being. It’s about taking care and watching out for your fellow man.
Are you choosing to love others as He loves you? What holds you back from loving some people?
