Generally, none of us like being told what to do. Rules can seem like commands and commands can feel like restrictions. We recognize the need for boundaries in some cases, but just flat out don’t like being told what we can and cannot do.
You may feel like your freedom has been taken away. God created all of us with free will so we would personally and willingly turn back to Him—repent and realize our ways are not higher than His.
He knew the risk in doing this was that we would also make other choices that do not follow the Lord’s plan for our lives. God understood the benefits of bestowing this on you outweighed the risk. He didn’t want you to be made to believe in Christ and dedicate your life to Him, but instead to choose the opportunity of living life for Him.
God has given us commands and they are not too hard to do or else He wouldn’t have given them to us. Even though they aren’t hard, they take effort and leaning in to Jesus to carry them out day after day. All of His commands are right and help us to follow after God with all our hearts.
This brings joy to our hearts and lives as we live in His goodness and experience His mercy and grace. God’s commands for us are also radiant because they are given out of His love for us. Because He loves us He doesn’t desire for us to live in the dark.
Believe in Christ, whom God sent to die for you, and you won’t perish, but live in eternity with Him. It takes humility and the laying down of your life for the one He has planned for you to experience the joy and radiance of God.
God loves you so much. He went before you, will always be with you, and lives in you. Don’t shy away from His commands. Instead, embrace what He asks of you knowing God is in control and works everything for your good and His glory.
Do you tend to push back at on the commands God has put in place for you or do you allow them to shape you? This includes loving Him with all you are and loving others even when you don’t like or agree with them. Pray and ask God to open your heart to Him and to guide your life.
