Bullying has become an epidemic in our society. There are many things that could be to blame for the way people treat one another, but only one true reason.
Everything you do and say comes from the condition of your heart. From a young age, children learn from everyone around them how they should treat people by how they are treated and the way others around them treat one another.
Our family isn’t perfect and we’ve never claimed to be, but we have raised our children to love God and love others. Not every child is a fortunate.
Each time one of my children come home from school and tell me a story of something someone said or did to them that made them think badly of themselves, I make sure to do a few things.
First, I remind them who God says they are. They are loved, special, and God made them perfect just the way they are. Then, I pray with them, thanking God for how wonderful He has made them.
We also pray for those who didn’t use kindness toward them. Not everyone has the same home life as someone else. This affects the way they see themselves and others.
It is your faith in God and the power of His Spirit living inside of you that gives you the ability to build one another up in love.
Words have power and actions can tear people down. In a world where so many look down on themselves, what are you doing to try and build people up with the love of Jesus?
