I’m sure some of you have children and if not maybe you have another younger family member that you adore.
When Mary was told she would be the mother of Jesus, I’m sure she knew it was a big blessing and an even bigger responsibility. As the Son of God, she knew His life would be different than anyone else’s life.
But I love that just like many moms she had times where she stopped and took in what He did or what was happening in the moment. She took mental pictures help them close to her heart. He was the apple of her eye—cherishing Him more than any other.
She didn’t know what He would one day endure, but she did know that one day He wouldn’t be living with her anymore. So all the little things that happened as He grew into a man, she treasured in her heart.
As much as you say you do this, if you’re like me at all there are days when you just go through the motions and the end of the day cannot come quick enough.
I encourage you to live more in the moment. Have experiences as a family that you all will remember. Take in the little things as they happen so that when the young ones are older and on their own, you still hold these things as treasures in your heart.
You are the apple of God’s eye and He cherishes you. He looks on you and smiles, remembering the good times and knowing what is to come.
What memories will you always remember about the apple of your eye?
