When you think about giving something up, it’s usually because the end result will be better than what you had.
This can happen on many levels. For example, an addict chooses to work through their addiction because they know their quality of life will be better without what’s been holding on to them.
Or on a lesser level, you upgrade an old electronic for one that has better technology because, well, it has to be better right?
God gave up His Son for you. He sent Him to earth knowing it was the only way to have a relationship with you and give you a purpose and eternal life.
In return, the Bible says the one who gives up their life will find it. I know in theory this doesn’t make any sense, but looking at it with God’s understanding helps us to understand.
Everything you have has been given to you by God—even your life! So how could you not be dedicated to the one who gave it to you?
You aren’t paying a debt because that’s already been paid by Christ. In laying down your life to pick up the one He has planned for you, you are allowing Him to guide you and help you live a life of abundance, peace, and grace in Him.
Without exchanging your life for the one He has for you, you will never know the fulfilling life you could have had.
What do you have to gain from laying down your plans and allowing Him to show you His plans for you?
