Have you ever tossed a penny in a wishing well? What did you wish for?
Oh, don’t tell me or it won’t come true. Wishing is what you do when you are hoping something will happen. Praying is what you do when you know God will come through.
When you think of the poor it’s generally in reference to someone without money. There are many deficiencies that can make you poor.
Besides money, you can be poor in spirit, hope, joy, peace, and many other things. Sometimes these things are more devastating than having no money.
So in some way, we are all lacking something. As Christ followers, we should be pointing people back to God so they can be refilled in spirit, hope, joy, and peace.
Only Jesus is the cure and true fulfiller of these things. You can try to find these things in the world around you, but there is a reason so many are seeking but don’t find what they’re looking for.
Seek Jesus for all He is and all He wants to generously give. Then pass Him and His blessings on to those who need it.
