There are some decisions you make that are instantaneous. Others may take awhile to choose what’s best.
Sometimes we make decisions in the moment and don’t think about the long term affects. I believe there comes a moment in each person’s life when they have an encounter with God.
In that moment, some people still choose to do things their way and not accept Christ as their Savior. This is the prerogative of free will. God wanted us to choose Him and not be made to be with Him.
In that moment though other people feel the nudge of the Holy Spirit and respond by accepting Christ and turning their life over to Him. But this decision is one of the easiest to make and the hardest to keep.
We realize the need to be saved and we like the idea that Jesus came and died for us so we could have a close personal relationship with God again. Many don’t realize the change doesn’t happen just from the decision at that moment.
The change is constant and happens over time. It takes a daily, intentional commitment from you to keep handing troubles to God instead of worrying about them.
It takes us constantly thinking about the promises of God and His direction. Life isn’t easy, but accepting Jesus means He walks with you so you’ll never be alone. You cannot fully accept Christ and still live life on your own terms.
Being a Christ follower means you are willingly giving up what you want for what God wants. God works through willing people to make a difference in this world. Are you one of the willing?
