What would you say if someone asked you why you work? Most people would say they do it to earn money to be able to supply their family’s needs. It’s also true that many people working are not necessarily doing something they enjoy.
You can have many different skills and be able to pull off different types of jobs, but if you are only using your skills to earn a paycheck it may be an indication you aren’t fulfilling your purpose. God put specific skills and talents inside of you so you would be able to use them to draw people to Him.
At the end of the day, if whatever you are doing leaves you feeling unsatisfied it could be a sign you aren’t walking in the purpose God has for you. You are going through the motions and working just to appease the man. No one will ever find satisfaction in living like that. You may be saying that this insight is all well and good, but what now? How do I make a change?
To know God’s will for your life, you must know God. First, make a choice to accept Him into your life and ask Him to help you see the world the way He sees it. When you make time to pray consistently, read His Word, and spend time with fellow Christ followers, you will truly know Him. Just like any friend you know well, you will begin to know what He likes and you’ll see what He sees when He looks at you.
Living in God’s will instead of your own will help you work as if you were working for Him—no matter what you are doing for a living—instead of working for the man. At the end of the day do you feel happy that the work day is over or happy because what you are doing is making your heart fulfilled?
