Order of Importance

Life can be confusing and the busier it becomes the more confusing it gets. You may have big projects at work that take up most of your working and non-working time. If you are able to have a job where your tasks and phone calls end when you leave the building, consider yourself fortunate. On top of your working life are social obligations and meet ups, volunteer positions on boards you chose to be a part of, serving at church while maybe attending a small group, too—all in addition to running a daily household and keeping the kids and pets alive.

You can allow life to become so busy because you have said yes to too many good things instead of saying yes to a few God things. The only way to get off this crazy cycle of living is to first breathe—then pray!

Who knows better than God what you should focus on? He knows what He has created you to do and can help you prioritize your daily tasks to line up with His path for your life. What I have learned is that if what you’re doing has no impact on your eternity or on the eternity of others, it should be low priority.

We can confuse our priorities when we are overcommitted because everything seems of high importance. The world is good at distractions and telling us we are better kept busy than left idle. How would your life look different if your focus changed from your to-do list to His list?
