It can be easy in this life for you become overwhelmed. There are more people than ever being treated for anxiety—medicinally and through counseling. There is in no way anything wrong with either of these things and if you need to have use of these please do so. However, we all will have days sometimes where one thing after another keeps happening. Before you know it, you’re having your worst day ever. What I have to say to you is what my parents said to me. “This too shall pass.”
Being a Christian doesn’t give us a pass in life to never experience trials, tough times or seasons, and bad days. Jesus said so Himself, but He did give us hope in that we would never be alone while going through these things. He would always be with us.
Our first thought in these times is not usually to be joyful. It can be hard to be joyful when your life seems to be in chaos. But God explains why our joy is necessary. Trials are tests of our faith. When we choose joy in the trials, it produces perseverance. Joy is the fuel we need to keep on keeping on! This perseverance then gives way to spiritual maturity. We cannot become spiritually mature without being tested in our faith. What has God brought you through because you had the faith to persevere?
