Do you really believe the Bible? There are things in life we understand, but we may not believe them. Understanding and believing are not the same thing.
The extent to which you believe the Bible to be true will show in the way you live your life. God doesn’t care as much about how many Bible verses you can memorize and recite. He cares more about your obedience to His Word. Love God and love others are His two greatest commands.
God also loves new things. When you accept Christ, He makes you a new creation. The old you has ended and a new you has begun. You are told to move on from your old way of doing things and allow God to guide you down the path He has planned for your life.
In our society though we also love new things, but for different reasons. People are always looking for the next thing that will help them perform better in an area of their lives. We are always concerned with falling behind the rest of those around us so it has become commonplace for us to covet what others have.
The truth is, to be first in God’s eyes we won’t be first in the world’s eyes. What you have and what you see in this life can be incredible and satisfying, but nothing satisfies the soul more than knowing where you will spend eternity.
Some don’t believe there is anything after this life. If that’s the case, then why are we even here? I choose to believe in Christ and in that belief is my salvation and saving grace. It’s there for you too. You just have to make the choice.
If you’re still on the fence about all this God stuff, I encourage you to dig deeper and find the answers in the Bible for yourself. Wouldn’t you rather live this life knowing you will go on to a better place for all eternity than to live with no purpose?
