Some people use the words “hope” and “faith” as synonyms, but they mean slightly different things. Hope is defined as wanting something to happen or to be true. Faith is defined as a firm belief in something for which there is no proof, but knowing it will be done.
However, one cannot be present without the other. Faith stands as a firm foundation for our hope. You will spend thousands on health insurance and life insurance in your lifetime for what “may” happen.
God gives us blessed assurance and all He wants in return is for us to have the confidence and the faith for what we are praying for and to know He always has your back.
Hope looks to the future wanting something to happen. Faith is in the here and now and stands on the truth that it will be done.
Some people say they have little faith and they wonder what their faith alone can do. It’s not about how much faith you have that makes a difference. It’s about having faith at all and knowing that He can do all things.
Work on strengthening your faith and digging deep roots by reading and applying the word of God in your life.
The Bible is full of people who had faith in the midst of their adversity. David had so much faith in God when he fought Goliath that there was no doubt in his mind the giant he faced would fall.
Look at Job. God allowed Satan to test Job to prove that his faith would not waver, even when he lost everything. Job held onto his faith and God rewarded him with even more than he had lost.
Noah heard God speak to him and built a boat when there was no water around and it hadn’t rained for a while. Because of his faith, God spared him and his family and they helped to repopulate the earth.
Moses had faith in God’s plan to use him to set God’s people free. He knew he felt inadequate for the job, but with God’s power, he walked boldly into his purpose.
Where there is faith, there is the power to change the impossible to the possible!
How has your hope and faith in God enabled Him to do great things in your life through the power of the Holy Spirit?
