Do you have a cause that you volunteer for or give monetarily to? It has been proven by research time and time again that those who serve others live longer and are happier than those who don’t. There is just something that does a heart good to give to others who may never be able to repay you.
When God sent His Son Jesus to earth to live and to die for us, Jesus lived His life in service to others. He knew no one He was healing and helping could ever do enough to repay Him for what He did, but He did it anyway. So many nowadays do things to get recognized or for what they can get out of it.
The lesson to be learned here is if Christ wasn’t worried about being repaid for what He did neither should we. When you choose to be a follower of Christ and accept what He did for you,, you are willingly choosing to live a life serving others and to God be the glory.
However, it’s what you are to Him more than what you do for Him that matters most. Whether you are praying to God or praising Him, one thing is for certain. He desires your heart to be devoted to Him above all.
He has the power to heal, restore, save, redeem, protect, love, and so much more. It’s my heart’s prayer though that you want Him more than what He can do for you. It’s so easy to fall into the prayer trap of asking God for everything you want Him to do for you. He for sure wants you to come to Him with your requests and desires, but it’s important that you desire Him more than anything.
Christ willingly and freely gave Himself for us. He didn’t do it to hold it against you—asking for repayment of the price He paid. He was just living obediently to the will of God. The needs of the people were met as a result of His obedience.
Think of yourself as a kernel of wheat. A chaff of wheat has many kernels. These kernels are able to be used to make different foods and feed many, but a kernel of wheat that dies to itself and falls to the ground produces many seeds. You have the opportunity every single day to plant a seed in someone’s life. That seed may take many years to take root and grow, but there will be a harvest!
When you die to yourself and give of yourself to others, you (as one seed) plant many seeds that will over time yield a bountiful harvest. Who has God put in your life to sow seeds into about Him?
