Whenever I think of Jesus coming back “like a thief in the night,” it doesn’t exactly provide the best visual in my head. No one wants to be surprised by a thief coming in the middle of the night.
Why does the Bible say it this way? The answer is simple. You need to know that no one knows when Christ will return, but He assures us He will.
He wants you to live your life to honor Him all of your days. When you live in this way, you will always be on your guard and ready for His return—even if it’s in the middle of the night.
You are encouraged to stay awake and remain clothed. Soldiers will do this if they are on the mission field so they won’t be caught off guard in case of an attack.
Staying awake for you and for me doesn’t mean we aren’t supposed to physically sleep. You are supposed to remain spiritually awake.
Don’t become stagnant in your faith. If you say you accept Christ and are a Christ follower then what’s stopping you from devoting everything you are and everything you do to Him?
Faith is contagious and your love for God is too. Share it with anyone and everyone and let it spread like wildfire!
Are you living spiritually awake and ready for His return? How does your life reflect it?
