Have you ever been to the zoo? All the animals there are fed and given shelter in a habitat that is supposed to resemble what their environment might be like in the wild.
They are well taken care of and living in comfort. Going to visit them at the zoo helps us to understand them better and also helps some endangered species survive.
However, sometimes we as humans live our lives in captivity. When you choose to let fear, insecurity, past hurts, and unforgiveness keep you from becoming who you were meant to be, you choose to live your life as a captive.
But God has already paid the price for your freedom through the sacrifice of His only Son, Jesus. Why choose to live life in a cage when your freedom has been paid for?
For some, life outside of what is comfortable and predictable is scary. You would prefer to live in an environment where you can make a plan and stick to it. I have news for you. Life is unpredictable.
Scottish poet, Robert Burns, said, “The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” Planning is a good thing to do, but just know that things will happen and you will have to adapt to changes to what you planned to happen.
The way to attaining your freedom from captivity is faith. Faith can take you on a wild, unknown journey, but it wouldn’t be faith if it was calm and predictable.
Don’t limit His call on your life to what you can do in captivity. You were saved to be free! Have you chosen to live by faith in God or are you still living as a captive when your freedom has already been paid for?
