Measuring Up

Have you ever experienced the pain of not living up to someone’s expectations? They feel disappointed and let down and you feel disheartened and just not good enough. There never seems to be enough you can do to make them approve of anything you do.

After awhile, this treatment will seep into your mind and affect how you feel and think in all aspects of your life. When this happens at work, it can affect your work performance. Your lack of motivation and enthusiasm is contagious.

This is true in every area of your life. But God! He says in His Word that we are to take every thought captive and make it submit to the will of God—His perfect will.

Do you believe He is perfect? He created all the world in six days and said it was good.

Who do you say He is? Your answer to this question decides how you will accept Him. To you He may be just an overseer, but I assure you He means to be a deeper part of your life.

We have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. Adam and Eve are to thank for that. Ever since their sin in the Garden, we are all born sinners.

There comes a point in your life when you realize there is nothing you can do to overcome your sin. The wages of your sin is supposed to be death, but Jesus was sent to earth to create the opportunity for you to go from eternal death to eternal life.

Coming to Him in prayer and feeling sorry for what you’ve done is the first step, but one must repent of sin—turn away and turn to Him.

You and I will always fall short of His standard, but all is not lost. He accepts you just as you are, right where you are. You don’t have to be perfect to be forgiven.

How does not having to be perfect change the way you live?
