We are nearing the end of October. It’s hard to believe after the year we have all experienced. It’s almost over. Next year has to be better right?
While many are and have been afraid, God does’t desire for us to live in fear. There are things we can’t change and things we must endure, but our grace through our faith in Jesus Christ is something that will never change. God’s grace is limitless and so is His love.
He hasn’t given us a spirit of fear, but of power (His power), His love, and a sound mind that sees things through His understanding. You may not like the world we are living in right now and you would be in company with so many others.
This is not a reason to fear everything you are facing. The key is to keep your thoughts and sights fixed on God. We want to experience the miracles Jesus has to offer us in this life, but often we lack the faith to see them when we turn our focus away from Him.
However, when we keep our gaze on Him we may still be missing the point. To know God is to understand who He is and not just want He can do for you and for me. Our faith is made great through God’s grace that He showed mercifully when He sent His only Son to die a horrible death but then raised Him up to be seated beside Him in heaven.
This love and grace is for all and it was a sacrificial act that is timeless and limitless. It is for all of us from then all the way until eternity begins in heaven with God and Jesus both. The disciples had walked with Jesus and had seen Him do miracles and teach them and others about the love of God.
Yet when they were all in a boat and Jesus walked on the water to them, they were all terrified. Why were they terrified? The were so fearful of the situation they were in on the lake they couldn’t stop focusing on their circumstances instead of on the One who could control them.
Are you walking around terrified because of what is going on around you or are you keeping your thoughts and eyes focused on Him who can and is controlling it all?
