It is a bit hypocritical but true that we believe something until it hits us personally. Then it is harder to practice what you preach.
”God will provide.” This is always true, but it can be harder to believe when you find yourself without a job and can’t make ends meet.
”Just trust God and He will help you when your anxiety gets high.” This is true, but telling this to someone while they’re in the middle of an anxiety attack will do very little good.
In the tough situations of life you look to see what you can do to better the situation. There isn’t anything wrong with that except it isn’t the first thing we should do.
Pray first! God is still in control even in the bad times. He isn’t a situational God because He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever.
When you take things into your own hands instead of taking it to God, you put yourself higher than Him. We have this need to be in control, but doing so takes away His power in your life.
The Bible says you are to have no other gods before God. Relying on yourself and your own solutions puts yourself before the plans God has already made for you.
What can you do to make sure you fully rely on God in every situation and keep Him higher than you?
